THE NIGHT OF THE KINGS IN FIGUERES
The Three Kings of Figueres is a spectacular parade of floats held on January the 5th in the afternoon in the city center. It consists of three kings with numerous assistants strangelly dressed distributing sweets and happiness to children. The parade goes through the main streets of the city, around the Rambla, it runs in front of the Rambla Hotel and ends at the Town Hall Square.
The Kings parade is recognized as a national tourist interest. Kings cyrcle the Rambla Square with entusiasm giving sweets and hapinness to everyone. Guests of the Hotel Rambla will enjoy a privileged view of this unforgettable show; we are waiting for you!
The King's Night is celebrated in Spain, Italy, Bavaria and other European countries from the 5th to the 6th of January every year. The days before, the children write a letter to the Kings Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar asking for what they want most. The Kings, who are very wise, reward with gifts to the children who have behaved better all over the year.
It is a Christian holiday that has its origin in the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. According to this tradition, the baby Jesus was visited by three wise men following the star of the East who gave him gold, frankincense and myrrh. How about you? What do you want?
